Luncheon Series: Operationalizing AI/ML
The Defense Department (DoD) is committed to becoming a digital and artificial intelligence-enabled enterprise, capable of operating at the speed and scale necessary to preserve the United States’ military advantage. To that end, the Pentagon has created a new office to lead its artificial intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) efforts across the enterprise – the Chief Digital and Artificial intelligence Office (CDAO). The CDAO builds on the work previously done by the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC), the Defense Digital Service (DDS), and the ADVANA program by centralizing these into a single office that will lead the department’s strategy, policy, development, and expertise around data, analytics, and AI adoption. The aim is to provide DoD with end-to-end cohesion from the time data is captured to when it's used for advanced analytics, automated response, and decision-making. The promise of operationalized AI/ML is evident from the battlefield to the boardroom, speeding pace, and driving decision advantage within the domain of each military service, and across the department’s joint warfighting mission. This advantage is not only evident in the joint battlespace, AI & ML are also revolutionizing the mission of training, equipping, and managing forces, finances, and programs.
- What technical, policy, ethical, and organizational issues do DoD leaders need to overcome to effectively harness data, data analytics, and AI for faster and better decision-making?
- What is the departmental vision and strategy for operationalizing AI/ML from the battlefield to the boardroom?
- How is each military service internally operationalizing data and AI/ML across their respective enterprises, and in orchestrated concert with the department as a whole?
Join AFCEA DC in-person or virtually on October 19th, 2022 to hear DoD leaders discuss AI/ML vision, progress, and best practices that will give the DoD military advantage, from campaigning to conflict.
